All the world's a stage!
Info
Description
These works show the human ‘shell’ (hollow human form) in different situations exemplifying the human body, and thus humans as mere objects, flexible enough to be molded into any form. The absence of a core emphasizes the idea that it is only the façade that is of any real significance. What we show to the world is what the world sees of us. And what do we show the world? Who decides that? Us? We are all like puppets and our strings are in the hands of what we cannot see. Be it religion or just the society in which we are living, our personalities are constantly being shaped by these factors. Our minds are constantly in a turmoil trying to figure out who we are and what we want to be or perhaps what the world wants us to be. What we want the most is to be ‘accepted’- socially, religiously, at home etc.We try. We try hard. We become versatile to the extent that our identity becomes part of our wardrobe and we put on a new ‘self’ for every occasion. It becomes so much about the exterior and the world’s perception of it that we start to neglect the inner self which begins to deteriorate and eventually we will be left feeling empty.
“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be”.
