- Since aresidency and Exhibition in Istanbul Turkey in Oct. 2010, my work has beeninspired from research of an article: “All Writing is Drawing: The SpatialDevelopment of the Manuscript”, by SergeTisseron who articulated ideas about the relationship of the hand and mark andhow the initial gesture is as revealing as the organization of represented ideas. I work intuitively using methods and material from personal influences and am inspired by issues of identity. I investigate spontaneity of form; searching for undefined structures that are as seemingly at ease as they are unnatural and find the process as important as the end result. It is an experimental process of locating the individual working from drawing and a process of using materials expressively. Three areas I am focussing on are:
1. How the spontaneity of form appropriates space; the gesture of the hand learns how to think itself through.
2. Investigating a space as a container for thoughts.
3. Exploring one’sown body “the realm of narcissistic and sexual investment” the process ofcasting out and retrieving thought to create form.
